This exploratory course on mammalian tissue culture introduces attendees to how to successfully and aseptically handle and culture transformed mammalian cells in vitro. This rigors and methodologies involved will inform the would-be embryologist about expectations in an embryology laboratory. The course assumes no previous tissue culture experience by attendees.

- Passage transformed cells aseptically
- Relate tissue culture of transformed cells to limiting numbers of primary cells

Basic Andrology

This lab-based course provides hands-on training in andrology techniques focusing particularly on semen specimen collection, measurement of volume, pH, manual sperm count, and motility using sperm counting chambers. The clinical implications of sperm parameters are discussed.
Course Objectives
Upon completion of the course, the student should be able to:
- Give guidance on the right way to collect a semen sample
- Perform proper and accurate semen analysis
- Produce effective semen analysis report
- Analyze and match right semen preparation technique to a particular semen sample

Basic Tissue Culture For Human Embryology

To be able to work effectively with very limited numbers of primary oocytes, the embryologist should have been trained to effectively handle cells aseptically to prevent contamination and properly to maintain viability and competence. This course extends the introductory tissue culture course and discusses other cellular handling procedures especially relevant to successful embryology.
This course assumes some previous (1-2 years) tissue culture experience by the applicant and it provides practical, comprehensive hands-on experience with tissue culture techniques of transformed cells to novice and embryologists-in-training to enable subsequent transition to oocyte and embryo culture.

The Certificate course in Intermediate Embryology involves extensive hands-on training to enable participants to work as minimal-supervision embryologists immediately after course completion. The program offers comprehensive and rigorous (ESHRE- and ASRM-level) training standards in Human Embryology and Andrology. The trainee should have had hands-on, aseptic tissue culture experience and must have some knowledge of assisted reproduction techniques.
Course Outcome
At the end of the course you will:
- Be able to work immediately as an embryologist with minimal supervision
- Gain comprehensive knowledge on human gametes and their handling
- Acquire extensive hands-on experience on semen preparation techniques

Intermediate Laboratory Techniques For Embryology

The course is open to both scientists and clinicians and provides them opportunities to gain practical knowledge in Clinical Embryology, Assisted Reproduction Technology and Infertility. The course involves rigorous hands-on laboratory experience, extensive bulk and limiting-cell primary cell culture subsequent to embryo handling, culture, and catheter loading. Observation of oocyte retrieval and clinical practice is presented as well.

The program offers comprehensive and rigorous (ESHRE- and ASRM-level) training in Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART). The course is ideal for both fledgling or experienced IVF practitioners with the requisite background and also for established ART practitioners looking to further enhance their skills.
Course Outcome
At the end of the course you will:
- Gain knowledge on how to set up an IVF laboratory.

This exploratory course introduces Embryology to life science graduates with no prior background in embryology or andrology but have an interest in learning about both disciplines. Attendees will also learn about the fundamentals of the science and ethics of infertility treatment.
The Introductory Human Embryology course is combined with Introductory Andrology and Introductory Mammalian Tissue Culture courses to enhance the overall exploratory experience.
